1/2 onion, chopped fine
½ c. butter
1/4 c. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. half & half
2 c. chicken broth
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
or 1 clove, minced
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. dried basil
3 c. chopped broccoli
Reserve 1/2 c. broccoli buds
Saute garlic, onion in butter. Do not burn.
Add broth, herbs, broccoli, include broccoli
buds. When broccoli is tender(remove &
reserve broccoli buds). Thicken with flour,
Mix flour with a little broth, stir in.
Cook 2 min., Add milk & cream, Add broccoli
buds. Stir well.
Add 1 c. grated cheese for broccoli cheese soup.
