Hearty Hamburger Soup

1 med onion, coarsley chopped
3 tbs. butter, melted
1 1/2 lb ground round
2 1/2 size can crushed tomatoes
3 cans chicken broth
2 cans water
4 carrots, sliced
1 bay leaf
4 celery tops, chopped
6 sprigs parsley
1/2 tsp. thyme
10 peppercorns
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Cook onions in butter til limp. Add beef, cook
slightly.Stir in remaining ingredients.
Cover and cook about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
This is very good and very filling.
