Glazed Baby Onions

2 lb. baby onions
4 tbs. unsalted butter
1 tbs. sugar
2 tbs.balsamic vinegar
2 tsp. chopped thyme leaves or 1 tsp. dried.
Place unpeeled baby onions in a large
heavy saucepan. Add water to cover.
Heat to boiling.
Reduce to simmer, uncovered, til barely
tender. 7 to 10 min. Drain & cool slightly.
Slip off skins and trim root ends.
Melt butter in same pan over med - low
heat.Stir in sugar and raise heat to med.-
high. Add onions & cook , stir occasionally
til onions are glazed & golden. 5 to 8 min.
Stir in vinegar & thyme.Cook 1 min.longer.
Serve hot!
