2 tbs. shortening
2 tsp. dry yeast
1 c. warm water
2 tbs. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 egg
yeast in water, add sugar, salt , 1/2 of flour. Mix well. Add eggs, shortening, & rest of flour. Mix well. Put in a greased bowl to rise. Cover with a damp cloth to keep dough from drying out. When dough has doubled, knead, make rolls and place in bread pans. Be sure you have oil in bread pans. When rolls have almost doubled, bake 400 degrees for 15 -20 minutes. Brush oil or butter on hot rolls when done.
I make these often for the soldier ministry. Easy and delicious!
Option: you can use half whole wheat and half white flour
